  • Sizzling Gary Anderson turns up heat on RVB

GARY ANDERSON was “sweating buckets” despite turning up the heat on Raymond van Barneveld in the Dubai Masters.

Ando hit five successive leg wins to leave RVB reeling last night with a 10-8 win to set-up a revenge clash with Phil Taylor tomorrow night (Fri).

A week ago The Power shattered Ando’s hopes of retaining the Premier League but now the Scot wants to get his own back with a sizzling win.

Anderson said: “It was good. Even at 3-2 down I was enjoying it. I came with a heavier set of darts, I'm happy with the way they were going although a few of them curved off that double 13 near the end.

“I thought I'd try a heavier set - I play with 23 gram darts and these were 25 gram and they went alright, I was happy with them.

“My 180s weren't there but there were lots of 140s and I'm happy. It's okay hitting a 180 but it's better to hit three 140s and then take the 81 out! A lot of times a player hits a 180 and then 60 and you're back to square on.

“Raymond was fighting back but I got a good start in that last leg and got the job done. I'm a happy Scotsman in Dubai - and I'm sweating buckets.

“Last year I played with 23g darts and they were all over the place. It made a big difference. They were going quite straight through the air, I'm happy with them.

“It's a challenge for Phil too tonight - I want my own back. He did me in the Premier League last week but I'll be giving it my all.”

It was the Dutchman who started slightly brighter, zipping into a 3-2 lead. But then Ando hit his five consecutive leg wins to take control.

RVB responded with a spirited fightback to get it back to 8-6 - but the Flying Scotsman had enough in the tank to seal his semi clash with old foe Taylor.

The Power had earlier smashed James Wade 10-2 while Dave Chisnall was equally impressive with a 10-1 destruction of Adrian Lewis. Michael van Gerwen beat Peter Wright 10-7.
