PHIL TAYLOR said his team-mate Adrian Lewis will have to give him the “kiss of life” if they have another nail-biting decider.
England were taken the wire in a last leg thriller by serial World Cup giantkillers Spain in Frankfurt last night.
Lewis hit tops with his last dart to beat the impressive Spanish pair - who knocked them out in 2010 - ready to pounce.
It meant holders England sneaked through 5-4 in a nerve-shredding encounter despite the Spanish duo of Cristo Reyes and Antonio Alcinas kicking off by breaking the throw.
Phil Taylor was England’s rock with a double 16 next time out and put his side in front with the same checkout at 3-2.
But Spain kept going all the way to a decider with England throwing first - and Jackpot held his nerve to put the holders through.
Taylor, who now faces China with Lewis tonight (Sat), said: “Spain were brilliant, they put us under pressure and took us all the way. I’m too old for all this.
“Adrian will have to give me the kiss of life if it carries on like this!”
Lewis said: “I’d rather not have to kiss Phil to be honest. If Spain had played anyone else tonight they would have won.”
