VW are hitting the Club hardcore style!

The German giants have unveiled the Golf GTI Clubsport S – the hottest hatch they have ever produced.

The Clubsport S is a two-seater version of the legendary hatch that has already smashed the last record for a front-wheel-drive production car around the Nurburgring racetrack.

S should really stand for sizzling. It has a retuned 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 306bhp and delivers 0-62mph in 5.8 seconds, and on to a top speed of 165mph. The Clubsport S is available in three colours which give a respectful nod to the original Mk1 GTi of red, white and black. The cabin gets bucket seats, bespoke ‘Honeycomb 40’ decals and an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel. Exterior tweaks include different front bumpers, a roof spoiler and a rear diffuser.

VW have yet to announce an on-sale date or price. Expect it to hit showrooms late this year for around £35,000 – but seems very pricey for a hot hatch – however this is the ultimate Golf GTi.

You’ll also have to get in quick with only 150 of the 400 being built set to make it to the UK.
